Non-EU citizens accounted for 62% of long-term immigration to the UK in 2018. The United Kingdom have three visa options:
- British National Overseas (BNO)
- Investor
- Innovator
At the end of January 2021, the UK gave 5.4 million Hong Kong residents – a staggering 70% of the territory’s population – the right to live in the UK, and eventually become citizens.
British Visa Information
British National (Overseas) Visa
- This visa is known as ‘BNO’.
- To be a British National Overseas, you had to register before 1 July 1997.
- Must be over 18 years old and residing in Hong Kong.
- Show you have enough money to pay for your housing and to support yourself and your family for 6 months.
- Be required to pay a Health Surcharge for each adult of 18 years or older. The fees are: £1,560 if you have a 2 years 6 months visa; or £3,120 if you have a 5 years visa.
- Be required to pay a Health Surcharge for each child under 18. The fees are: £1,175 if you have a 2 years 6 months visa; or £3,120 if you have a 5 year visa
- You can afford the costs of the application.
- Able to travel to the UK within 90 days if you went to a visa application centre to prove your identity.
Note:
- You can no longer register to become a British National Outside.
Investor Visa – Tier 1
- You have £2 million or more to invest in UK, and you have access to the funds.
- Prove the £2m belong to you, your husband/wife, unmarried or same-sex partner.
- Your funds must be held in one or more regulated financial institutions, and you have opened an account at a UK regulated bank to use your funds.
- Your money at the time of application can be in UK or elsewhere.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Free to spend (disposable income) in the UK.
- Be required to pay a Health Surcharge for each adult of 18 years or older. The fees are: £1,560 if you have a 2 years 6 months visa; or £3,120 if you have a 5 years visa.
- Be required to pay a Health Surcharge for each child under 18. The fees are: £1,175 if you have a 2 years 6 months visa; or £3,120 if you have a 5 year visa
Note:
- The visa for a maximum of 3 years and 4 months.
- Can apply to extendvisa for another 2 years if you have £2 million or more under your control in the UK, have invested those funds in share capital or loan capital in active UK companies, and invested the sum within 3 months of your investor starter date.
Innovator Visa
- Business idea that is new, innovative and viable for growth.
- Business different from anything else on the market.
- Business endorsed by an approved body.
- You must be 18 years or older.
- £50,000 in investment funds obtained from legal sources.
- Innovator Team with each member having £50,000 to invest.
- Enough money to support yourself and dependents.
- £1,270 in savings in your bank account for 28 consecutive days before you apply.
- Be required to pay a Health Surcharge for each adult of 18 years or older. The fees are: £1,560 if you have a 2 years 6 months visa; or £3,120 if you have a 5 years visa.
- Be required to pay a Health Surcharge for each child under 18. The fees are: £1,175 if you have a 2 years 6 months visa; or £3,120 if you have a 5 year visa
- Pass a TB Test and provide the test results.
